The National Organizing Committee is pleased to host the SHOT 2008 Annual Meeting in Lisbon, the westernmost city in mainland Europe.
All sessions and meetings will take place in the VIP Executive Art’s Hotel (see map), located in Parque das Nações. This neighbourhood was an industrial area until 1994, and it is now strategically placed in Lisbon’s new modern business center. It offers an impressive Oceanarium, convenient access to fine restaurants, a pleasant shopping Mall and leisure activities. We encourage you to walk or jog along the river at sunrise.
Throughout the meeting, secretarial staff and a help desk will be available to help you with our local knowledge.

The Society for the History of Technology was formed in 1958 to encourage the study of the development of technology and its relations with society and culture. In December 1958 SHOT held its first annual meeting at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
